Daniela Kalkandjieva's Previous Projects

Dr. Daniela Kalkandjieva is affiliated with the Scientific Research Department of Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski. Her main research expertise is in the field of the contemporary history of Orthodox churches. The results of her scientific activities are published in a series of peer-reviewed studies: ‘Eastern Orthodoxy and Its Churches in Central and Eastern Europe' in Focus on Religion in Central and Eastern Europe: A Regional View (De Gruyter, 2016); ‘The Bulgarian Orthodox Church at Crossroads: Between Nationalism and Pluralism' in Orthodox Christian Encounters of Identity and Otherness: Values, Self-Reflection, Dialogue (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014); ‘Orthodoxy and Nationalism in Russian Orthodoxy', Saint Vladimir's Theological Quarterly, 2013, 57 (3-4); ‘А Comparative Analysis on Church-State Relations in Eastern Orthodoxy: Concepts, Models and Principles', Journal of Church and State (Autumn 2011) 53 (4); etc. She is also the author of the monographs The Russian Orthodox Church, 1917-1948: From Decline to Resurection (Routledge 2015) and The Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the State, 1944-1953 (Sofia: Albatros, 1997).
