Prof. Kolyo Koev

A sociologist by training, Kolyo Koev teaches sociology at the University of Plovdiv and at the University of Sofia, and also delivers lectures at major universities abroad. He is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia.

His research and publications are in the fields of sociology of everyday life, history of sociology, sociology of knowledge, phenomenological methods in sociology. He has been awarded a scholarship at the Maison des sciences de l’homme (Paris, France), a DFG Scholarship at the Bavarian Academy of Science (Munich, Germany), a DAAD Scholarship at the University of Bielefeld (Germany), and Heinrich Hertz Scholarship at the same university.

He is a member of the Administrative Board of the Bulgarian Sociological Association and the German Association of Phenomenological Studies. He has been a member of the International Advisory Board of International Sociology. Since 1995 he has been the Editor in Chief of the Sociological Problems Journal.
